A Walk through the City of Contrasts |
here's no better way to explore Dubai's rich heritage than on foot.
Begins at the century-old Sheikh Saeed House in the city's historic Shindagha area. From here, it's a short walk to the old souk - the famous trading heart of the old city.
Your next destination is Bastakiya, with its carefully restored traditional houses complete with original wind towers. Your route then takes you along the Creek - once Dubai's main trading artery - where the contrast between low-rise traditional buildings and soaring glass skyscrapers is most evident.
After crossing the Creek aboard a wooden abra (water taxi), you will arrive at the spice souk. Winding alleyways lined with exotic spices brings you next to the dazzling gold souk.
Your final stop is the colourful fish and vegetable market, from where you will board a coach to travel back to your hotel.
