Tour of the East Coast
The east coast of the United Arab Emirates - comprising of the emirate of Fujairah and portions of Sharjah - lies on the Indian Ocean at the foot of the Hajar Mountains and has the most spectacular scenery in all of the UAE.
Journey east to Al Dhaid, a small oasis town known for its fruit and vegetable plantations. Catch glimpses of dramatic mountain gorges before arriving at Dibba, often compared to Italian fishing villages. Dibba's name features largely across Islamic history as the site of the great battles of the Ridda wars between muslim armies and a number of tribes and towns that had sworn allegiance to the prophet but changed their beliefs after his death.
Continue on to the oldest mosque in the entire UAE situated in Al Bidya. Located between Dibba and Khor Fakkan it was built in the 15th Century with the structures surrounding the building date back as far as 200 BC. The site of the village has been inhabited for 4,000 years. The mosque is small and has four small domes supported by a large central pillar. Climbing up the two towers allows you to admire the surrounding date plantations, village and pristine white beach.
Continue up to Khor Fakkan set on a beautiful natural harbour where you will have the opportunity to swim or just relax, before returning back to Dubai through the rugged mountian paths and narrow wadis (water inlets).
