Dubai Zoo
Located in the popular suburb of Jumeirah, quite close to the Mercato shopping center, the Dubai Zoo is a popular tourist attraction, especially for families.
Dubai zoo is the oldest of its kind not only in the UAE but also in the Arabian peninsula. As well as being the first zoo to breed rare Chimpanzee and Arabian wild cats. It is a special place of interest in Dubai for residents and tourists alike.
The zoo has attracted many visitors since its opening, and with recent modernisation, has become less like a prison for the animals and moved towards the western ideal of a passive conservation. The housing of the animals is now very similar to how they would live in the wild.
The zoo houses more than 200 species of birds, mammals, reptiles and fish. The Arabian species in the zoo include gazelle, caracal, foxes, wolves, hyena, wild cat, flamingo, cormorant, herons, gulls, eagles, buzzards, vultures, snakes, skunks and lizards.
