All visitors to the Emirates should have travel insurance - just in case. Choose a reputable insurer with a plan that suits your needs and the activities you plan to do while in Dubai, especially if they are extreme sports such as quad biking or diving.
There is every chance that no accidents or illnesses will befall you while you are on holiday, but this is one of those things in life where it is better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. A good travel insurance policy will not only cover you for illness and injury, but also for loss or damage to your luggage. Just be sure to read the small print - many policies will not cover the costs if you injure yourself while under the influence of alcohol or while partaking in extreme sports.
